The Rotary Club of Gibraltar is providing Mount Alvernia residents with cooking facilities of their own. Originally, Mount Alvernia Occupational Therapy and Activities section contacted the Rotarians to see if the Club could help The Friends of Mount Alvernia with the purchase of a domestic cooker for the residents to use. This is becauseThe residents are not allowed to use the main kitchens and its appliances.
The idea is that this new cooker would be used for producing cakes and other ‘goodies’ that the residents themselves could then sell at their own fund-raising events. This would be along with other items that they make under the supervision of the occupational therapists. The therapists are also looking into the possibility of allowing some of the more able residents a chance to entertain their own families to the occasional Sunday lunch. Rotary has been happy to provide funds for such a worthwhile project.
